Yes. I FINALLY broke down and got Team Fortress 2. It's pretty good, but man oh man, those crates. I always feel nice getting a random weapon/hat drop, but those things are kind of like a door prize. I don't think you can craft them, and I don't like wasting money on digital goods unless I think it's actually worthwhile, but given how frugal I am, stuff like 10 dollars for 3 maps hardly seems like a good deal to me.
I really don't know about *paid* DLC and microtransactions. On the one hand, it's nice to be able to get something when you show your support for a developer, and they have to make money somehow (especially with the businesses that run servers), but sometimes it seems like an excuse to milk more money out of a customer. It's a brilliant fallback in case people buy a game used, I admit, but it doesn't make that sort of behaviour any less of a batch of sour grapes.
If anyone else has any thoughts on DLC (and this whole game licensing nonsense), then by all means, lay it on me. I'm rather interested to hear what people think about these and other ubiquitous gaming issues.
Anyway, send me a note and we can exchange Steam names.
